Gabor Angeli

Gabor Angeli was an XSeed Fellow from 2014-2016. He is currently a co-founder of Eloquent Labs, an XSeed portfolio company. Gabor is interested in many natural language applications, including dialogue systems, information / relation extraction, textual entailment, and semantic parsing. His thesis is entitled “Learning Open Domain Knowledge from Text.” He is an active contributor to Stanford CoreNLP, and is the author of the CoreNLP Simple API, the Stanford OpenIE System, and co-author of the CoreNLP Server.

While pursuing his PhD, Gabor led the Stanford Knowledge Base Population project, which was the top performing system at the yearly TAC-KBP competition in both 2014 and 2015. He has published eight papers at the top three NLP conferences, including co-authoring a best dataset paper at EMNLP 2014.

Prior to joining XSeed, Gabor was the NLP Architect at Baarzo, a video search startup acquired by Google in 2014. He interned at Google in 2012, where he worked on the semantic parser powering Google Now.

Gabor holds a BS in Electrical Engineering / Computer Science with a minor in Philosophy from UC Berkeley, and a PhD in Natural Language Processing from Stanford University.
