Full-Time Position
Location: San Francisco, CA
There are over 3B unbanked consumers in the world without access to formal banking services. Mines.io isĀ attacking this problem by developing new, mobile-based financial services that leap-frog even the entrenched banking systems in the west. If we are successful, we will not only accelerate financial inclusion and improve the quality of life of millions (or billions), we will enable entirely new markets in the fastest growing parts of the world.
We are looking for a data scientist/developer to fill a cross-functional role on our small team. We expect you to have strong opinions on the appropriate approach to solving problems. We expect you to have a strong mathematical background and be well versed in statistics and machine learning. We expect you to be able to work and experiment with large data sets, select features, iterate and experiment with various algorithms, and document your work clearly for others to follow. We expect you to be able to quickly learn new tools and to be a hands-on developer, diving into infrastructure code if need be.
Our founding team is highly technical, consisting of C.S. Ph.Ds from Stanford and Purdue. We are selective about who we choose to join, so you can trust that you will be working with bright, capable colleagues. Our tech stack includes best-in-class technologies like Docker and Swagger, modern languages like Scala and Go, and a high performance, metaprogramming-based analytics engine originally developed at Stanford University that is considerably faster than Spark.
Although we have international partnerships that provide an immediate audience of tens of millions of consumers, our company is still at a formative stage where you can get in on the ground floor and have immense impact. Come join us on what promises to be a remarkable journey bringing financial services to millions of consumers in need around the world.
