Zip™ Non-Invasive Wound Closure Device is Faster than Sutures, Can Produce Superior Cosmesis Compared to Staples and Can Reduce the Risk of Surgical Site Infection

CAMPBELL, Calif.–()–ZipLine Medical announced today that Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara Medical Center has adopted its patented noninvasive Zip™ surgical skin-closure devices for cardiac implant surgery. This is in addition to ZipLine’s adoption by hospitals throughout Northern California where orthopedic surgery is performed.

“The clinical experience that I have had in using the Zip™ device is that it is an easy-to-use and fast skin-closure modality, offering excellent comfort and cosmesis for the benefit of our cardiac device implant patients,” said Taylor I. Liu, M.D., a board-certified electrophysiologist at Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara Medical Center.

“I am using the Zip™ devices for incision closure where I conduct orthopedic surgery at three different hospitals in Silicon Valley,” said Nathaniel P. Cohen, M.D., a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with Northern California Orthopedic Specialists who specializes in sports medicine, shoulder reconstruction, and arthroscopic treatment of shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and ankle conditions. “The excellent patient comfort and cosmesis as well as the ease of use and reduced OR time are distinct advantages when using the Zip™ device to close surgical incisions. The OR staff members at all three hospitals have also been impressed with the Zip device’s ease of use and cosmetic outcomes.”

“The adoption of ZipLine Medical’s products in orthopedics and electrophysiology at several hospitals further validates our benefits of speed, reduced risk of infection, and excellent cosmetic outcomes,” said John Tighe, President and CEO of ZipLine Medical.
