Karen Alter
EIR Emeritus
Karen Alter is currently COO at CocoTerra. She served as an EIR at XSeed from 2011-2012 before she went on to serve as COO for our ed tech portfolio company SIPX. Before XSeed, Karen held executive roles at Solyndra, an innovative manufacturer of rooftop solar panels, Better Place, a global electric vehicle services and network provider and Rapt, a media monetization venture (acquired by Microsoft in 2008). Karen also held several senior management positions with Intel Corporation from 1992-2000, including Vice President, Microprocessor Marketing and Business Planning. Karen has served on the Board of Trustees of numerous non-profits over the last two decades, including the Palo Alto Jewish Community Center, the Gideon Hausner Day School, the Law Foundation of Silicon Valley and Hillel at Stanford. Currently she sits on the Board of Science is Elementary, a startup non-profit dedicated to inspiring a passion for science in elementary school students.
Karen holds both BA and MBA degrees from Harvard University.
